Rebecca “Reba” Rodriguez

Reba Fact: Reba has played for many celebrities, but her favorites were George Strait and Cheech Marin.

Rebecca Rodriguez was born and raised in Houston, TX. Her journey in mariachi began at Johnston Middle School, where she began playing the vihuela. As a teenager, Rebecca continued her study of mariachi through an after-school program at Multicultural Education & Counseling through the Arts (MECA). Through MECA, she had the opportunity to travel to Norway and Vietnam to perform. Rebecca also graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and was accepted into Texas State University. At Texas State, she performed with Mariachi Lince de Oro, Mariachi Nueva Generacion, and La Orquesta del Rio. During that time, she started playing professionally amongst multiple female mariachi groups in San Antonio, TX, and eventually moved there after graduating from college in 2014 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising.

She and her husband welcomed a baby girl in the summer of 2023, and Reba is enjoying being a first time mom.

Aside from mariachi, Rebecca maintains a professional human resources career as a recruiter. Rebecca joined Mariachi Las Alteñas as a guitar player in 2021 and is enjoying every moment with the group!
